First Congregational Church of Huntley
of the United church of Christ
Throughout Christian history, the church has and continues to remember and celebrate the lives of faithful people who have died. Totenfest is a distinctive practice that grows out of the Evangelical tradition of the United Church of Christ. Although the name Totenfest is unknown to many in the UCC, its importance as a special time of remembrance continues not only in our Evangelical heritage, but for all. It is a way of remaining related to deceased loved ones, as the process of grieving and remembering are vital to our spiritual health.
Many Christians know All Saints day or All Souls day as the time in which we remember and celebrate those who have entered the Church Triumphant. In Mexican traditions a similar celebration is the Day of the Dead, and is seen in the culture as a day honored by all citizens.
We at First Congregational Church of Huntley also honor our beloved members who have died and have joined Jesus in heaven, and want all our members to value the faithful service of these members that have helped our church arrive as the vital place in which we celebrate all the lessons of the Bible.
Join our celebration as we honor the saints of Christ.
